LAGOS – The Alaba International Market Association (Electronics), in collaboration with its Past Presidents and Founding Fathers, has officially ushered in what stakeholders described as “A New Era, A Greater Alaba” with the unveiling of its ambitious development agenda tagged “The New Face of Alaba Projects.”

The two-day event, held on Thursday, August 6, and Friday, August 7, 2026, brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives, and prominent personalities from across Nigeria to celebrate a new phase in the history of one of Africa’s largest electronics markets.

He described the deplorable condition of the roads as a death trap, lamenting that traders, customers, motorists, and residents are exposed to daily hardship, accidents, and huge economic losses.

He pleaded with the government to intervene without further delay, stressing that Alaba International Market is one of Nigeria’s foremost commercial hubs and deserves quality road infrastructure to support business activities.
The market president further explained that the “New Face of Alaba Projects” represents a commitment to innovation, infrastructural development, improved sanitation, enhanced security, and sustainable economic growth. He emphasized that the projects are designed to strengthen traders’ confidence, attract more investments, and position Alaba International Market as the leading electronics trading hub in Africa.
He expressed appreciation to the market executives, founding fathers, and all stakeholders whose support made the vision possible, noting that collective leadership remains the key to Alaba’s continued success.

Mr. Ajiri explained that the committee worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the programme, adding that the event was not only a celebration but also a clear demonstration of the market’s readiness to embrace transformation. He urged traders and business owners to support the leadership’s developmental agenda, stressing that unity and cooperation are essential for achieving lasting progress.
The colourful ceremony featured the presence of distinguished personalities, including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, General Christopher G. Musa (Rtd), Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Hon. Tayo Ayinde, HRM Oba Dr. Sulamon A.
